Bloggers often think the need of SEO Consultant, when they fail to get traffic. Search Engines are meant for humans, there is nothing to learn in SEO.

So, do you want someone’s help that you should have to pay for, or learn everything of your own ?

Of course, bloggers who are already earning well can spend some tiny part of their income in getting better Search Engine Optimization, but what about the beginners, who actually just know what content to write on their blog, and about wordpress.

There are a lot of SEO Optimization Services and tools starting from Out Spoken Media to SEOMoz tools. Should you use them, even when there are free alternatives available to you?

The answer is, it depends on the business you are going to do with your blog.

If you are going to run a simple blog, just like TrafficHood, you never need to buy consultancy for search engine optimization from anybody. But if you are running a business, that directly or indirectly depends on good rankings, then you should consider to get a consultant for yourself.

But as I mentioned, this article focuses on SEO for blogs, I would share some of the experiences of mine which would help you deciding whether to go for paid services or not.

What Actually SEO Is

Its SEO, it’s not hard until you do something Black-Hat. Its plain and simple, you don’t need hundreds of people working for your blog just to rank higher. But you need a working brain for yourself to make it work.

SEO, never depends on a single factor, but depends on a lot of factors which are dependent on each other too. Google, has a Webmaster Tools Channel on YouTube, where Matt Cuts, the head of web-spam team answers random question from users. He was asked once what are the factors on which ranking depends.

And his answer was limited to this, that there’s nothing constant when we talk about Search Engines. The algorithm keeps on updated and more relevant pages will always be ranked higher than the others.

Do you think so ? I mean, do you find always that higher relevant pages are indexed at the top ? Look at the above example, where I searched “how to ride a horse“, well, the first one is relevant of course, but you would find the second one irrelevant.

SEO for Beginner Bloggers

If you are beginner, its more likely that you don’t have much knowledge on optimization for getting better rankings in search engines than others. Or, maybe you are limited to keyword research and filling meta tags.

It’s a golden rule of SEO that your content and writing technique plays more than half part in your rankings. It includes crafting good blog titles, and writing relevant content which should be fully informative. So, you can perform major of SEO work yourself.

The rest of the part, which includes Social Media, back-links, authority etc. is somewhat typical part.

Being on social media is easy, but spreading your blog articles on social media is not easy. Same with building backlinks, because building backlinks (genuinely) is out of control. You can also use link bait technique for building backlinks.

How to Manage Search Engine Optimization Yourself

Most blogs run on WordPress Platform, and there is a lot of support for WordPress. You can find a lot of WordPress Plugins to help you with meta tags, like WordPress SEO by Yoast, or All in One SEO Pack.

Apart from that, you can build relations with bloggers in the same niche. You should communicate with other bloggers via Twitter, Facebook or by e-mails. Building relations help you to expand your reach, and sometimes help your blog get covered.

You should one of my previous article, where I wrote on how to improve traffic from twitter.

Building backlinks is one of the important part, and the most difficult part of SEO. Difficult, because its out of control and people will link to your blog only when they will find your blog too much informative, and with really unique content that is never been covered anywhere.

You just need to focus on these three things.

  • Unique and Quality Content (content with intention to help others) – Do research on everything you want to write, plan your writing strategy. Make appealing headline titles and don’t forget to inter-link your content (specially your old articles).
  • Social Media Sharing (Twitter, Facebook, StumbleUpon sends a lot of traffic) – Social Media sites can send huge traffic to your blog. Though this traffic is occasional, you can convert these visitors into regular readers of your blog.
  • Building Backlinks (hardest part of SEO) – There is nothing much to say on backlinks. If you create unique content, disclose some secrets or create a useful product and launch it on your blog, you would see sites linking to you.

You don’t need to focus on anything else. You will see higher rankings automatically, which will send you good traffic.
